Great Fun! ON THE AIR with K-Mac & Reese @TheSportsShop1

K-Mac & Reese

This morning, I walked into what can only be described as the barbershop scene from Eddie Murphy’s, “Coming to America.”  The Sports Shop, with Reese and K-Mac on WDNC-AM, Buzz Sports Radio in Raleigh-Durham, NC. is the highest rated morning-drive sports talk show in the country hosted by two African-Americans.  Ah, … actually, it’s the only one in the country, hosted by two African-Americans!  I gotta give these guys props man.  They are entertaining as hell.  Quick, colorful, comic banter, without the dry, stat filled, who’s on the DL list B.S. you hear on the other sports talk shows.  This is a sports radio talk show FOR THE FANS and I give it my highest recommendation!

The show airs weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. ET. Here is a link to a news article describing our show (http://raleighco.com/media-circus/sports-shop-assumes-rare-sports-talk-spot-for-black-hosts/).

This June, The Sports Shop will be celebrating its 6th anniversary!  Congratulations K-Mac (Kevin McClendon) and Reese (Erroll Reese)!  Well Done!

WNDC is owned by Capitol Broadcasting Company, an affiliate of CBS Sports Radio, NBC Sports Radio and ESPN Radio.

*As you can see, All three of us like to eat!  That’s why I used the station logo to hide my gut.  😉

GREG MORTON RETURNS TO THE DEBATERS

Attention all Star Wars geeks and comedy freaks! You don’t want to miss this show.

On Sat Jun 19, Greg Morton makes his second appearance on CBC’s The Debaters show, hosted by Steve Paterson. The topics will be, Darth Vader, Best or Worst Dad & Stay at Home Dads.

The Debaters celebrate dads this week as new father David Pryde tries to convince Star Wars fan and Dark Lord devotee Greg Morton that even though he did try to get his son to join the family business, Darth Vader remains the worst dad of all time.

Next up, domestic daddy Tim Nutt doffs his apron and throws down an oven mitt as he tries to prove to patriarchy propagator David Hemstad that “stay at home dad” is a job title any man can be proud of. We may be talking about fathers this week. but The Debaters remains the “mother” of all radio comedy shows. Catch the action Saturday at 1:00 PM on Radio One. It’s a good one!

Fans of The Debaters may recall the Greg Morton’s last debaters topic. Star Wars vs. Lord of the Rings. This knock down drag ’em out fight between comedians Greg Morton and Ron Sparks, now available on itunes.

BOB AND THE SHOWGRAM

If you’re not from the Raleigh/Durham area, you’re probably thinking, what in the hell is BOB AND THE SHOWGRAM?  Who the hell is Bob?  What’s a Showgram and can I use the word ‘showgram’ in Scrabble?

I don’t think you’ll find ‘showgram’ in the Scrabble dictionary, but you will find BOB AND THE SHOWGRAM, weekday mornings, from 6:00 to 10:00 am on G105 and 105.7   The show originates from WDGC in Raleigh-Durham.

Bob Dumas, self professed redneck, host the show along with comedy junky, Mike Morse and Kentucky Kristin.  Every morning, they parade a plethora of political incorrectness in front of their listeners.  You won’t find better bunch of morning misfits than this F-ed up crew.  If you don’t believe me, listen for yourself on their weekly podcast or check out Showgram on Demand.

I performed OBAMA MAN and my two minute STAR WARS, in front of their live studio audience of Showgram fans,

BOB AND THE SHOWGRAM
BOB AND THE SHOWGRAM

while the smell of Bojangles and freshly cut watermelon wafted through the studio. (Bojangles Chicken ‘n Biscuits, the cornerstone of every southern breakfast)

When I walked into the studio they offered me Bojangles.  I’m sorry but I can’t eat that shit THAT early in the morning!  I just got my Wii weight down to 176 and I ain’t changing that for nobody!

Let me give you an idea of how crazy things can get on the show.  On this particular morning, one of the interns licked the toes of one of their Showgram fans!  I’m sorry but I cannot eat that shit THAT early in the morning!  I’d rather have Bojangles!

No wonder they have an want ad for interns on their Facebook page.

Obama Man Goes Viral! 2 Million Views on YouTube!

Well, it’s happened. Obama Man, the song parody about President Obama performed on The Bob and Tom Show just two months ago has reached over 2 million views. It’s simply mind boggling!

I have a few other clips that have been posted on YouTube like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Hurricane MOFO, but none of them have surpassed 100,000 views.

2 weeks ago, I got a call from Tom of the Bob and Tom Show telling me the clip had gone viral. “Have you seen this thing?” I don’t know if you’re aware, but this clip has a million hits on YouTube.” Now, it’s a week later and it has reached over 2 MILLION. I’m simply gob smacked.

Since then, I’ve performed the song live at numerous venues across the county to a very positive response.

So what’s next? Well, there’s talk of a more visually elaborate version with revamped lyrics. I guess I’ll just ride the train and see where it takes me. I just hope I don’t have some kind of Susan Boyle breakdown!

Special thanks to everyone at the Bob and Tom Show! Without them, this wouldn’t be possible.

The Debaters

Last night, I appeared on the CBC radio show, ‘The Debators.’  A show where comics debate hot topics and hot button issues with logic and a twist of humor.  The show is hosted by funny man Steve Paterson.  A good friend and one of the fastest ad-lib comics I know.  (That’s right, I name drop too.)

The debate topic was Star Wars vs Lord of the Rings.  Which one is the better franchise?  I was pro Star Wars of course and my debating partner, comedian Ron Sparks, was pro Lord of the Rings.  We both slaved through seconds of last minute prep to put forward our best arguments.  In the end, it was very close, but I prevailed.

I won’t spoil it for you, but it was a great night!

Simply click on the link above for more information on air times and sound bites of previous shows.  You won’t be disappointed.

Shout outs to my fellow debaters, Al Rae, Fred MacAulay, Irwin Barker, Jonny Harris, Mark Forward, Debra DiGiovanni, Roman Danylo, Rebecca Northan, Pete Zedlacher, and Erica  Sigurdson.  Well done everybody!

I’m at WEBN in Cincinatti…

Pictured above, from left to right are my good friends, Bob, Jeni, and Shroom. Eddy Fingers is unfortunately MIA. This morning when I walked through the doors of WEBN, I immediately started laughing. Anyone who listens to WEBN in this area knows that ‘Call of the Shetard’ is legendary and destined to become a classic track on one of their ‘Best of’ CD’s! When you hear Jeni attempt to replicate the sound of a Wookie, you’ll understand why it is one of the most requested bits at the station by their listeners!
