I want to let you know about a new archive-based special Just For Laughs is preparing for Bell Media.
Bell Media reached out to JFL for a special featuring all Canadian talent from our years producing together for a special to broadcast alongside other programming plans in a time when shooting new content is less feasible. Entitled Stellar Standups, this one-hour program showcases an all-Black, all-Canadian lineup that includes select performances from various Just For Laughs stages over the past 10 years. The special will debut on February 23rd as part of CTV Comedy’s celebration of Black History Month and will air alongside movies by Eddie Murphy, Kevin Hart, Chris Rock, Will Smith and specials by Aisha Brown, Dave Chappelle, Yvonne Orji, Amanda Seales, Chris Rock and Wanda Sykes. After its initial broadcast, Stellar Standups will be included in Bell’s regular programming schedule. Every Bell specialty channel is doing similar programming pushes.
Bell Media asked Just For Laughs to be part of this initiative and we are genuinely delighted to showcase this collection of world-class Canadian talent, including Aisha Alfa, Aisha Brown, Arthur Simeon, Brandon Ash-Mohammed, Che Durena, Chris Robinson, Fatima Dhowre, Greg Morton, Hoodo Hersi, Nile Seguin and Sterling Scott.
